A moms blogJuly 9, 2017 updateJuly 9, 2017
So the year is pretty much over and I have yet to blog it all. The year was a year from Hell. Everything started off ok then went to the dark side Christmas. So much to tell and to drag it all up is a taxing thought. I will try and work through things little by little. That's all I got right now. I am, currently, pledging to document the Whole 30 I'm currently taking part in. That will be good to get used to blogging and then I will drop something in here and there. |
Are you ready for some football?
So football season is here and this is one of my favorite times. This last weekend, here is my schedule. Go to work at Cal Stadium at 2:30pm. I am a supervisor for a club so I need to find some quality team mates to work with me. They need to be able to treat others with respect, smile, schmooze and listen to directions. Thank goodness I have my pal Jonell and Rich on my team! I also have a few others that I have recently met and they are jumping on my team when we work together. I love working with great people. Anyway, started at 2:30 got off around midnight and back to the boat around 12:40. It was a game with most my crew doing a great job. It's a fun area and everyone wants to be there so the hard part is keeping people out, that do not belong there. Went to the boat and had our first adult boat guest. Of course me pirate was there last week but this was Jonell and she stayed in the living area while Rich and I were in the bedroom suite. (Ok, I'm making this sound fantastic but you've seen how tiny the boat is.) Anyway, we got up at 5:30 to take showers and make it over to Levi Stadium for the 49ers by 7:30. We just slid in on time. We grabbed something to eat on our way over to the stadium because we had no time and here, at McDonalds, I ran into one of my buddies from work, Thandie. I never see her at work anymore but at McDonalds. It was a great surprise. Anyway, we worked the 49er game until just after the game started and around 1:30 headed over the O.Co for the Raiders. Here, I work another club. My call time was 11am. Since I had to be in 2 places, someone was grabbing my team for me. Thank goodness they know the routine and I had 5 or 6 of my regulars there! I was released from Raider, I don't even know what time. I do know I made it home just after midnight and I was to exhausted to even say goodnight. All the games are fun. They all have different issues going on. CAL, everyone has to catch BART so half my staff has to leave while the games are going. At 49ers, we are doing gates. EVERYONE has an issue with the bag size and the fact they have to go through screening. Every game someone is upset with me. Someone always says how we are so thorough. Well guess what? Our team has a reputation for catching things that are not supposed to come in the game.(Secret shopper kind of thing where they are checking our security.) In order to do that, you have to be thorough. They don't mess around at the football games. And guess what else... I don't care if John Boy let you and your purse in at the other gate, It's not coming in here if it's to big! So on the way to Raiders, we got the joy of riding in the game day traffic. I will post a photo of one of the cars we saw on the freeway over. Just for fun!
So the Raiders had part of my staff there. I looked for other staff along with my supervisor and thank goodness we were fully staffed. It was a typical Raiders Game. In my section, you have to have a club pass to get there and an actual ticket to sit there. My team, ushers guests to their seats and keeps an eye on things. Well, we had some fun this Sunday.
Where to start?
I had a worker that had a huge tooth issues. Her face kept getting bigger and bigger, yet, she wasn't going to leave work. Hats off to her but when I need another person, because she could only last so long, I didn't get to pick and choose. Ok, the time before this game, I had a worker that fell down and couldn't walk. She actually left with the EMT. Just saying, excitement abounds everywhere, not just the patrons. Now for the guests. I had 2 girls get up to go get food and the dude behind them threw up EVERYWHERE. In their seats, in the walkway, down the wall and in the narrow corridor, my guest have to use, to get in and out of the area!!! UGGH. It was a super small area and it stunk!!!! Everyone wanted to walk right through it!!! UM, "NO!!!" Hello!!!!. The game was super intense and the fans were upset but no way are they going to walk through a huge puddle of vomit to get to their seats. I sent them to the side, grabbed a Oakland staff guy who works with clean up. It happened to be his first day. He was awesome. He did the dirty job of cleaning all that up with a smile on his face. The guests were putting their hands all over him saying, "Right there, Look there, Get that." He just smiled and did what they asked. He was so awesome, that a lady in the stands gave me the thumbs up sign and told me how great he was. I told her that I had already told him he needs to come and work for our company and I had given him info on how to go about it!
Next up the lady with no clothes. Well, she was in the ladies room with no clothes. I didn't see this, just heard about it. I did see her in our section, this time adorned in clothing and her Bronco's Jersey. She was out of it. (not the clothes, now, but mental thinking ability) The Police had to escort her away! Bye bye. Jail or out of the stadium or to Medical, I'm not certain. Anyway, she didn't even know where she was. Then, we had the club suites, throwing food and drinks down on the people in my section. These suites are purchased by mostly businesses. We are talking thousands of dollars! They will not be allowed back when they don't listen. I saw, with my own eyes, a plastic glass of alcohol come flying through the window, aimed at a lady walking up the stairs. I was not happy. I sent High Security up there 3 times!!! This was happening from more than one suite. How much class does it take to NOT throw things from your suite window? One may never know! I went to check on one of my team mates and found out that she was being harassed. A lady was talking to her very rudely, telling her she was picking on her the entire game. Enter, me, and I ask about what's happening. They lady had no ticket to be out there. Without going through the entire thing, I'll just say the police happened to be there and they escorted this Lady and her Man out of the game. I don't have time to deal with people who are belittling my team, in order to sneak in an area, they didn't pay for.
Checking on another team player, I found out he was not checking tickets but dancing, yelling, leaning on railing, stepping on railing and more. He had been warned this is not part of his job description. I'm super excited that my team can see the game first hand, where they are positioned, but that is a perk. They can take a glance now and then but the job is looking at their area and ushering people to their seats! This particular time, the higher security told him he needs to pay attention. He used some very choice words with them and explained they were NOT his supervisor and they can "BEEP" off. Well, since I AM his supervisor, I had to send him packing. NO way will I keep someone like that on my team. At the same time, I had another guy who didn't want to work. He wanted to go home. He actually left his position to leave and another supervisor called to let me know. He wanted our higher security to stay and take his place. The higher security was there to actually throw someone out of the game. But hey, this kid is ready to leave NOW so they can forfeit escorting the person out of the game and just stand there to usher people to their seats. (Shakes head slowly) What are people thinking? I sent them both home. Now, with all the CRAZY going on, I'm scrambling to get everyone a break and lunch. Still we will make this happen. Ok so a couple guys on my team that work with me, when I supervise, had some excitement. A couple of dudes started fighting. Think of the seats you set at when you go to an Ice skating show or baseball or these football games. They are not large. There is little room to maneuver. But hey, these guys are standing in the stands, fighting. They are injuring people around them. Now we are NOT trained or asked to do this but these guys, at least one, is actually a bouncer. One guy, jumped over the rail and grabbed one of the dudes to stop him from hurting anyone else. The other, grabbed the second guy and pulled him over the rail so that he had to stop. These are younger guys and that stopped the fight. The two other guys fighting were actually brothers! My guy that pulled one guy down, was talking to them both. "Look guys, you are brothers! You can't disrespect each other like that! That is not what brothers do. I need you to look at each other and apologize." So apparently the brothers looked at each other and apologized. They walked into the club arm around each other and then they started fighting again. It just happened. The police were right there so bye bye brothers! I saw my guy giving them the brother pep talk. It was really sweet. Honestly, sounds awful but they understood. The guys were just so wasted that they forgot in 2 seconds. There were more shenanigans going of for sure but that is the highlights.
Can I just say that below is my weekly schedule and this was in addition to that. A had rehearsals so I had to call in the Mom and Dad team who had to drive to the Bay area to her home!!! I also had to have another mom take over for the trip in the city. That way, my mom could hang around the bay area without having to drive in the city!

Let me schedule that in!
So I have not had much time to update lately! I was also thinking about how some people wonder why I'm not getting back to them the second they want to talk to me. It's all good, but I thought I'd share my schedule; Just for kicks and giggles.
Monday: The kid has an on-line class from 8am to 10am. Two Mondays a week, I need to be at the charter school, in the valley, to teach Yearbook Class and that is from 9 to 11:30. We are renegotiating some times and coming in at 9:30 now and then. The other Mondays I work on getting my Wednesday classes together. I like to use several sources and curriculums to make up my classes. Anyway, we need to leave town by 12:00 to 12:30 to get to the train. A rides in with a group of dancers and I go to the boat, and haul 3 or 4 trips of things in. I then have to organize everything and find something for dinner. I usually try to stop in to the yacht club, as well. There I do a little computer work for school classes that I teach. I also try to catch up on e-mails, web sites, etc. I have been trying to work on certain school topics for my dancer but I usually run out of time. I often have to go to the store or somewhere to get dinner. I then have to go to Downtown Oakland to pick up the kid. She is now riding with her 2nd car pool group. We go back to the boat, go out, to the bathrooms and return to the boat, and jump in bed. She usually doesn't get to the boat until 9pm or so. This takes place after her return.
Tuesday: Tuesday her alarm goes off at 7am. I'm getting up then, if I haven't already, and heading out to take a shower. (Yep, simi public showers. I go to the yacht club) She gets busy on the books right away. I have to haul EVERYTHING to the shower, then haul EVERYTHING back. I'm working on getting a 2nd set of shower and personal needs so I don't have to haul them to my home, as well. Anyway, I have to next, figure out breakfast. So far, I've gone from making something everyday to buying some type of morning bun or yogurt and fruit everyday. I'm still looking for that happy middle ground. One thing is for certain. Her school classes start at 10am and she doesn't always have her breakfast before then. She has a 2 hour class, then a small break and back to class. I actually have to have her get dressed for dance and leave before the 2nd class is over. We may have a sandwich but more likely to grab something. This is because it is like camping!!! I have to haul dishes to the yacht club to wash,, then haul back. I also have to haul all the clothes and things going home with us, out to the car. WE have to dash off to pick up the carpool by 2:50 in Downtown Oakland. There, I take a car full of dancers in. I do not have to bring them back but since I"m there, I realized, it's easier to leave from SF and not come back to Berkeley, wait on the carpool, and then drive home. So, now I bring computer work or whatever is on the fire that day and needs to be addressed. I hang at a coffee shop or the library. I drive home in tons and tons of traffic. We get home late and sometimes even later, due to traffic and accidents.
Wednesday: This is the day I have to be at the school to teach 2 classes. I get the boys that morning and drive them in with me. We have a Starbucks stop. Usually leave by 8 to 8:15 am At school, I have to haul all my things in and out. I am very hands on with my students so there is sometimes 4 trips in and 4 trips out for one class. I teach my classes but have to rush off when they are done I drop off the school stuff and pick up the stuff that I have hopefully gotten together before leaving for school. . I try to convince Rich to grab a sandwich from Obriens, for us, and we are off to the train, eating in the car, where I drop and roll. Same thing as Monday. Again, I haul stuff in and out and try getting prepared for the night and next day. (hold that thought. Got to run to the train right now)
Ok, next afternoon and I've returned. So Wednesday, same as Monday for dinner and picking A up with her Oakland carpool.
Thursday:; This day, we have the morning to try and get everything caught up. For me that is getting the breakfast and lunch planned out, getting the boat organized, in case we are not back until Monday, and hauling things to the car. Currently, we do spend some Friday nights on the boat so depending on the day, that can change. A works on her school and makes sure everything is together and ready for her Friday College class. This day, I drive the Oakland Car Pool to SF and drop them off. I stay because I also have to drive them home. I have the car packed in advance. This is also a day I try to work on computer and get my classes together. Sometimes I walk or shop or even go to a movie. This is a day I might treat myself to one of my favorite coffees or something like that. I have to figure out what to do for A's dinner, which could include buying something for the car, or stopping on the way home or her dad making dinner. No matter what, it's another long drive home.
Friday- A has to be at school for a three hour class. There is always homework due so she has to stay on top of the game. We get to bed around 10 to 10:30 and she has to be up and running by 8. She is usually doing homework from other classes before going to this three hour class. I pick her up and rush to the train. I usually go in with her. WE both ride the train because return traffic is horrible. This is a time I may actually stay over on the boat because of Saturday rehearsals. Either stay or drive in on Saturday!
Saturday- You got it! WE drive in from the valley or the boat. Go home on Saturday night and if all works out, church on Sunday and some rest time. However, usually A is working on school and I am working on my classes, washing clothes or working the weekends at my other job.

Well, as you can see, it's been a while. My overboard life has been OVERBOARD! the sick time was a set back on getting situated and in a groove but was needed. I'm sure I'd be even more worn out without that little rest. Lots of things have happened. The kid started her rehearsals. They are on Saturdays, usually around 1:30 to 2:30 so we need to stay that Friday night, hang out waiting and then by the time we make it home, it's around 5pm or so. This shortens our, "at home," time. Also, makes it harder for me to get things done.
Other new things is that I joined a group in SF that volunteers for many artsy things. They work with events and help out with dinners and things. One thing is you have to keep the $1000 people from entering the $10,000 areas. This is my life. I do this all the time for the clubs I work at the football games. They also seat people, can see great shows and events, work with marketing, kids parties, and tons of other cool things. I'm excited to join this group!
Did I mention we found a sunken boat? What an adventure. It was right by our boat, all this time and we had no clue. It's Mast is sticking up out of the water so why thing the boat was sunken? Someone in the yacht club told us. The boat apparently has a winding staircase and a fireplace inside. It's Huge! Still we can't see the actual boat, just the mast.
School is going super great for the kids. She is loving her Jr College class. She is dong fantastic in her Latin and Classical Literature class. WE are behind in biology and math due to the fact that her parents dropped the ball. Not really behind, like no class, but I'm letting it go slower than normal so she can get a grasp on how intense her HS and College class are. Help her figure out organizing her time etc. But the drive in the car and on the train is the time killer. It's hard to read without getting car sick when you are on a freeway, turning and riding over hills.
The kid in Italy, has phone issues. Now it's super hard to get in touch with her. I have no clue what she is up to and I'd love to report more. Hopefully soon I'll have more info on that. I did find out that it takes 4 months for her to get a package!!! I guess everything would need to come for Amazon.IT in order for her to get it sooner.
There are now 2 carpools that we take. One is a train carpool and the other is a car carpool. One for gong in, when we are in the Valley , the other for going in, when we are in the Bay Area. Both have 2 other girls. That's a total of 4 girls. All very sweet and nice. Then there is a 3rd one that is riding home with her pal, on the train, closer to our boat. This alone is overwhelming at times. Still we are making it work.
Her dad, took her in on Friday so I could get my classes going. Haven't seen my mom in ages to I took her to lunch, at which point, her phone rang and it was my nephew needing a new phone. I took her to get a phone plan for all three in her family and then I gave back my Apple and got an android. I was having so many issues with that iPhone 6 holding apps. I didn't have very many to start with but when they upgrade, it takes up more space, then when they fix the bugs and have an upgrade for that, there isn't enough room. I've been trying to get it figured out for the last 3 months and I finally gave up. My new phone has 2 cameras on the front and 2 on the back. It has the best video capabilities out there! It's pretty amazing. And it's not the new model that was just introduced so I got a deal on it. Only had it a few days but it's already blowing my I Phone away. We will see if I think this later on.
School classes are going on for three more weeks. For some reason I had added 2 extra weeks this time around and I don't know why. Anyway, we are having a great time. Both the little one is weather class and the older ones in CSI/Spy class are having fun and learning some cool things. The yearbook class is way, way more work than I was thinking. I'm still learning my way around on that one and learning the new system. I have gone from 3 kids, last year, to 14 or so, this year. They are all really fun kids. We have a good time in class and the kids actually asked to have an additional class each month. What? HS kids wanting an additional class? That made my day!
I know, this isn't all that interesting but I wanted to do some update. The only other thing I guess I'll comment on is that the kid had a birthday and she now has tickets to see 3 ballets. I figure if the kid is dancing, she should also be attending professional dance events. I'm thinking I may grab at least one opera ticket as well. That was her birthday gift. There is no time for parties or other events and as she in not with lots of kids that live near her, it would be difficult to host a party anyway.
One more little tidbit. My husband took the kid and it's a good thing. He walked into the boat yesterday and there was a small amount of water, piling up on the floor. With the nearby sunken boat I would HAVE FREAKED OUT!!!! I guess I'm supposed to leave the Bilge Blower on to pump out water. I didn't know that. Now I have wet rugs. What would have happened if we were not there, all the time? I'm freaking out just thinking of it. We have had rain, and it wasn't a bad sleep but now I have one more thing to worry about. THAT could have been my sunken boat! I think God is a funny God and he's letting me know to wake up and learn more about my boat and sailing. I'm super excited about the sailing but had no clue my boat could fill with water!
So this is it for now. I am getting in a grove and will try and start writing more.
Get over it!
Get over it! Wow, was I really out! I started feeling sick and I stopped in my tracks when I realized I have not been taking my oils, not been washing hands constantly and here I am with a sore throat. I was one with the flu! I grabbed oils, told me husband, he's on, and I secluded myself in my bedroom. I did not want the kid or the husband getting this. I was IN BED for almost 4 days! I have never been in bed for four days, EVER! Still, I told myself, I need to get better and getting up to take care of things will not help and it could spread the germs. Today is day 10, I'm back in action and I am starting to get my taste back. It was a MASSIVE undertaking to get everything done with me out. The dad had to drive to the bay area a few times! One day consisted of 5 or so people to get the dancer to and from dance! What a support team! What a fantastic way it all worked out! I will be posting more, getting photo's out there and catching up on AFTER, I catch up on the life stuff.
Currently, I"m sitting in the yacht club listening to old men chatter as they are saying their greetings before their meeting. Always something going on. Behind sailboats are coming in and out of the marina. This morning I heard there is a boat that sunk and just the mast is sticking out. Guess how is going to go and see if this is true? To Be continued.
